Preparing For Winter In The Summer

The Problem

I’ve worked in retail for many decades and I’ve consistently seen the same problems continually occur.  It’s not that people are stupid, it’s simply that they don’t think about certain things ahead of time.  For example, if you are going to have a vacation, you don’t wait until the day before to plan what you’re going to take, let alone in the summer when everyone else is taking a vacation.

Another example is found with heatwaves.  When people know that summer is comming and that’s going to be hot, they need to check their fans and air conditionars out to make sure they’re working. If they do this BEFORE the heatwaves, then they’re not going to be one of the hundreds that I see come into my business looking for what’s out of stock.  Do you see the problem?

That’s right, it’s waiting until the last minute to get the items that you need. More importantly it’s doing what needs to be done BEFORE the season get’s here.  But as my mother-in-law used to say, “people will be people”.  And I get that I really do, but here’s my attempt to help you before the winter season gets here.  Check out some of the following things before it’s here and you’ll be happier and be repeating those rewards when the dog days of winter are here.

Waiting to prepare for the summer to get here is a mistake...
and it could cost you your life.

Things You Can Do Now To Prepare You For Winter

While there are many things you can do on this side of winter to prepare, consider the following can save you a lot of time and money.

The first up is your roof.  It’s easy to say I’ll wait until next year, but the problem with that is simple: next year may very well be to late and the damage may be extensive if you do wait. So in the early spring and summer you need to have your roof inspected.  Obviously this needs to be by a repretable company.  Every area has someone that’s a pro and wont take advantage of you. PDQRoofing is one such place located in Calgary Alberta.

PDQRoofing will come out, espect your home and give you an honest evaluation.  If your home is anything other that just built and under 10 years old, then you should have it inspected.  No, you don’t have to, but again it can cost you thousands.

Another thing along with roofing is your pipes.  If your home hasn’t been inspected by a plumer and you live where it gets really cold, freezing in fact, you need to have your home pipes inspected so they don’t burst in the winter.  Again, you don’t have to, but the cost and damage can be extensive if you wait to long.

Roofs and pipes can cost you thousands of dollars
if they rupture in the winter because you didn’t have them inspected in the spring and summer.
