This Is Important – Please Take Note!

There are two types of cordless electric lawn mowers – those you push while the motor just turns the blade to cut the grass, and those that are self propelled where the motor also drives the mower and you just walk behind!

Obviously much will depend on the area and level of lawn you are mowing as to which model is suitable for you. Unsurprisingly, the self propelled mowers are more expensive, but the saving in energy may make it worth it for you – it did for me!

WORX WG782 14-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Lawn Mower – A Lightweight Push Mower For Small Yards.

This little WORX mower has many 5 star reviews on Amazon.com from both older people who wanted lightweight mower, and people who have small or awkward areas to cut.

The pros are that it is very light but powerful, and it holds it’s battery charge very well. Reviewers also commented that they liked it’s quietness, and the way it folds for easy storage.

The cons are that with only a 14 inch cut it requires a lot of to and fro to cut any but a small yard, and that it is not very efficient on damp or wet grass.

WORX WG789 19-Inch 36 Volt Cordless PaceSetter Self Propelled 3-In-1 Lawn Mower – Self Propelled For Larger Areas.

Now we come to the larger (wider cut) more powerful and self propelled WORX model for those with larger or steeper areas to cut.

The WORX WG789 has a 19 inch cut for a wider cutting swathe, and purchasers say that they cut a half acre or more easily on one battery charge with power left over.

They very much liked the quietness of the machine, the one touch height adjustment from 1.5 to 3.5 inches for longer or tougher grass, and the PaceSetter technology which automatically adapts to your walking speed.

It is convenient to be able to remove the battery to charge it on a workbench or somewhere that gives easy access to the mains, or it can be charge while still attached if preferred.

Greenworks 25242 40-Volt 4 Amp-Hour Lithium-Ion 16-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower – A Slightly Larger Cordless Push Mower.

The Greenworks 25242 has a wider cut than the WORX push model reviewed above which allows for faster finishing of the yard. At 37.8 lbs, this is a lightweight mower that can easily be used by any member of the family.

The Lithium battery has an official running time of 40 minutes, but reviewers have commented that it lasts longer before needing charging. A comment frequently made was that straight from the factory the blade wasn’t very sharp, and that by sharpening the blade to make cutting easier, the battery life was much increased.

It has a 5-position single-lever height adjustment which cuts the grass from 7/8″ to 2-3/4″. Some reviewers commented that they would prefer a higher cutting ability, which apparently can be achieved by fitting larger wheels.

Purchasers overall are very happy with this mower.

Greenworks 25092 18-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Self Propelled 2-in-1 Lawn Mower – Self Propelled For Larger Yards.

The self propelled Greenworks 25092 can cut up to a quarter of an acre on one charge of it’s battery, and so makes cutting the large yard an easy task. It has a steel deck for durability, which of course makes it heavier than the model above, but since you are not pushing it, this is not so important!

It has a rear bag, but also includes a mulch plug, so you can easily repurpose clippings to create a greener, healthier lawn. It also has a 7 height lever adjustment.

One or two reviewers comment that the self propelled element has no speed variation and is set fairly fast, so if you are not a fast walker, then perhaps this is not the mower for you! However most people are very happy with their purchase.
