Be open to learning new skills

THE 10 STEPS YOU MUST LEARN TO START YOUR NEW BUSINESS.

A check list to understand and start your home based business..

You will next learn the steps you need to start your new business.

What is your overall goal?
Analyze your strengths and weaknesses.
How are your technical skills?
Do you have the required soft skills?
Choose your product. goods or services.
Who is your target market?
Who is your competition?
Choose a place {site} for your business.
What legal form will you use?
Develop your marketing plan.

TIME IS MONEY? RIGHT?

Over the years, I was always taught “TIME IS MONEY.”

I never did understand what that meant. Until early in my business career, I think it was my first day on the job. My supervisor yelled at me, yes, they yelled at you back in the day. “How much do I pay you an hour?” “How much do I pay her an hour?” Her being a clerk. “If you want to spend your time doing a clerks job , I will pay you clerks wages.” Lesson learned!

To this day, I see managers assign work to a highly paid employee that should be done by the lesser paid employee Clearly a misuse use of their company’s resources, time, and money.

As a businessperson, is it best to do it yourself or outsource it? Remember the concept of time is money;

The consensus seems to be “do it yourself” When I try to teach this to my business students or interns they tend to believe it is always, if you can, to do it yourself. What do you think?

THE RULE IS SIMPLE.
What is your time worth? What do you earn per hour? What is the cost per hour to outsource the work? The answer will tell you what you should do.

The lesson, in business it is not always the best to dyi.

Why then does it make sense to follow these lessons? You could go on Google and find this information? Think time is money. Research tikes time, a lot of time. Trust me I spend a lot of my time doing research. I think we can agree let me do the research. Spend your time reading, studying, learning, and applying what you have learned. Be a lifelong learner.

Doing your own research would not be the best use of your time. To be successful you must be efficient, and use your time wisely, .You must be effective, work within the time you have available.

THE CONCLUSION

Time is money. When starting my own business I had plenty of time but little money. You must become effective and efficient .Manage your time. It is your most precious resource .It is not always best to do it yourself. Your time will be better-spent learning and applying what you learn to your personal and professional goals

WHAT CAN YOU LEARN FROM MY BUSINESS FAILURES?

Why do I write these posts? To teach you how to overcome unemployment.

How to start your own small business, preferably from home.

To learn the basics of business in order to expand your knowledge of business.

To use this knowledge to expand your career or become a better business student.

Are your goals any of the above? You should be reading these posts. Learning and apply the lessons. If not I strongly suggest you go back and do so;

What lessons have you learned and applied? If none why not? Fear of failure? Unwilling to take a risk? You feel you do not have the required skills. So did i! I have had all these fears. I have been fired. I have failed in business; I have failed as a student. When I started my MBA. At sixty-five years of age, .I took a risk I was afraid off failing. I felt I no longer had the skills to compete with other students

You must have faith in yourself.

Set your goals and take action.

The results I earned my MBA. My fears were not real. It was just resistance put in my mind so I wound not try .So i would not start.

Like me you must start .You must take action. Learn from your failures. There is no better life lesson than failure’

I continue to fail in some endeavors. This blog has not become as popular as I had hoped. However

LESSONS LEARNED; because I refused to quit because I always took action when faced with fear. Because I refused to listen to negative people, I have reached my goals. Not all of them but most.

Despite all my failures, .i earned a BA. In addition, an MBA degree. Had a thirty year successful business career with a fortune 500 company, only after passing there hiring test by one point. I have just conclude a twenty year career as a business teacher and administrator,

As a result I have taught and trained students their basic business skills to start and succeed in business; I also helped many students to start their own small business I have taught small business owners to improve and grow their business’s

This is why I continue to write this blog and to take positive goal setting action in your own life

What duties will you need to perform on a daily basis?

You will be responsible for playing the role of management.

As the manager,you will be be responsible to plan, organize,lead,and control your new start up.These steps are called the four functions of management.

It does not matter if you are the ceo of a major corporation or the manager of your own small business.You must learn and apply each of these functions..

The first is planning.

You must determine the best strategies to reach your goals.
Set your goals.
determine how you will reach your goals.
what resources you will need?
when will you need to reach these goals?

HOW TO FIND A PRODUCT FOR YOUR NEW OR HOME BUSINESS?

.As previously stated, while it is important to have a passion for your product, it is more important to choose a product for your new business that is in demand.

Equate demand with opportunity. You’re looking for opportunities to start your new home based business.

When looking for new business start up opportunities ask yourself questions:

1. What products have you looked for but could not find?

2. How could your skills improve the lives of others?

3. How could your product help others solve problems?

Match your skills and strengths to your answers. Your choice of product must meet the needs of others.

After you choose your product, ask yourself the following:

1. Is there a demand for your product?

2. Do your skills match your choice.

3. Do you have the resources – time and money!

4. Will your sale price allow you to make a profit?

5. Where will you do business from? (Location)

6. How will you deliver your product to your customer?

Answer the above – Herein lies your business opportunities

Go ahead – Choose your product.

TURN YOUR PASSION INTO YOUR HOME BUSINESS

Many new entrepreneurs take a passion often called a hobby and turn it into a home based small business.

One concern I have is if you use your hobby for relaxation or stress relief,

it might not be a good fit for a small business. If not go ahead and use your hobby or passion to create your home based business.

What should you do if you do not want to use your hobby?

Instead look for a problem you or others might have and how you could create a new business that would solve this problem.

Look for a problem you or others have or are facing. How have you or others solved this problem? Could you teach others how to solve this problem? If so you have the seeds of a new business.

· A few examples of a problem you may have overcome and could teach to others include.

· Health

· Business

· Financial

· Social

· Physical

Use the brainstorming technique I previously taught you. In a short time you will come up with potential for your new business start up.

What other opportunities are available to help in coming up with a service for your new business? Remember problems are just another name for opportunities!

· What do you want or need and cant find?

· What service if available would improve your life?

· What irritates you or others?

Can you find an opportunity for a new business from the above?

Remember not all ideas generated from the two lists may be turned into opportunities.

They must.

· Fill a need.

· You have the required skills.

· The available resources, time, and money.

· Your selling price will exceed costs.

· You have the most effective way to deliver your services to your customer.
