Care Tips For Your Sweaters
With this, it’s a good idea to take good care of your sweaters so that you will keep them for many years!
Cashmere Sweater Care
Cashmere, along with other delicate fiber such as: angora, mohair, and wool should be handled with care. Without a doubt, cashmere is very stylish. However, its desirable softness makes it very challenging to care for.
During summertime, store your sweater with proper care. Mothballs should never be used. For one, they don’t smell good and are very harmful to humans. Cedar is best, cedar balls, dry bay leaves, or herbs can be used instead. Place it in between your clothing. If you want more options or other safe alternatives, consult a health food store in regards to this matter. Always make it a routine to keep your wardrobe clean. Vacuum and dust it out at the end of every season.
Thoroughly dry your sweaters before keeping them away. It doesn’t matter if you’ll store them for the whole season or for a couple of days. Whatever it is, it’s a no-no to leave them damp. Doing so could encourage the accumulation of mold or mildew. Worse is, this cannot be removed and it can also affect the surrounding clothes giving them a foul odor.
For less delicate sweaters, remove the excess water by using a washing machine that has a very gentle spin cycle. Be very careful though! It should never be done on cashmere, or other fragile sweaters like lambs wool, angora, and mohair. Always put your sweater inside pillowcases or laundry garment bags (the ones used for lingerie) in order to avoid the sweater getting caught up in the machine cogs.
